Well another year and a new blog with a new colour scheme and background. The background photo was taken at the Sedgewick Museum Cambridge it is of a piece of ‘Marston Marble’ from Somerset packed with the shells of ammonites.
Christmas dinner with Jane and Ron at our house and then we went to them on Boxing Day for a very tasty beef lunch.
We were out and about during the Christmas period visiting the neighbours for drinks and meals which was very pleasant.
After Christmas we visited Jennifer and Brian, at Bourne End, for a lunch with ex-Germany friends. We were pleased that the heating engineer arrived to repair their central heating which had been off since Christmas Eve, 3 days! It was lovely to see everyone and to have a super meal as well. We spent the night with Sue’s sister, Pam, who lives not too far away. The following morning she took us into Windsor for a wander around and then we We returned home in the afternoon.

Changing the Guard
The photo of the ponies was taken whilst I was checking a walk I was leading on the Saturday, 2 days later. Due to the amount of standing water and the foul weather on the day I had to cancel the walk – the first time I have done that in 10 years.
Nice weather on the recce
If you have been out of the UK for a while you might have missed the fact that it has rained a little lot monsoon like. Ringwood has had more than its fair share of water. The usual places have flooded with a few more to boot.
This ‘lake’ in summer is a field with a footpath through it.

Sue in Kingsbury Lane, Ringwood
On Friday 10th we were all set to go to Southampton to the Titanic exhibition at the Seacity Museum on the bus from Ringwood. Our plans went awry when trying to park our car in the long stay car park in Ringwood where we couldn’t find a space. We couldn’t risk parking in the short stay because there is always a warden around.
We went to the local hot chocolate cafĂ© (guess who’s choice) to regroup. The waitress’s opening comment was ‘Are you having a nice day?’ No! didn’t suffice as an answer, so she got the whole story. Instead we went to Christchurch. Here is the result of the recent flooding. At the time of writing many roads in and around the forest are still closed due to flooding.
Christchurch Quay
We did some shopping in Christchurch. I bought another pair of wellies and a waterproof walking hat. It has rained rather a lot recently! Unfortunately the rain came about 2 hours earlier than forecast and we got soaked returning to the car, which was parked at the Captain’s Club, a 10 minute walk away. Sue decided that it would be nice to have a soup for our lunch at the CC. Very wet and carrying our purchases we were shown to a table in their restaurant. Despite our bedraggled look we had an excellent soup with service to match. An interesting day.
Oldie Photos - 1973 Rinteln, West Germany
These photos were taken when the Army Blue Eagles, helicopter display team, put on a show for Prince Rupert School pupils. I had volunteered to take photos along with John Stennard so we were positioned where ‘Joe Public’ couldn’t go. The display took place on the BMH (British Military Hospital) sports field also used by the school.
